In the modern age, the prosecution of whistleblowers has plagued nations throughout the globe. While protections for these individuals have been instituted internationally, legislation regarding this topic has been historically incapable of enforcing real change.
Article 33 of the UNCAC (United Nations Convention against Corruption), one of international law's sole protections for whistleblowers, is a non-mandatory provision and employs intentionally precatory and unenforceable language. In doing so, the UN has given room for nations throughout the globe to enforce authoritarian, unethical policies against those fighting for commercial and state transparency.
Silent No More is fighting for article 33 to become a mandatory provision, holding nations accountable and protecting those who risk everything for truth.
